Campaigning door to door in her first term for office in 2013, Samantha Steckloff discovered people were more interested in whether she was married or had children than they were in her plans for the city if elected.
No to both questions, the 28-year-old Steckloff told them.
Voters wanted to know how someone who wasn't married and wasn't a mother could be "trusted" to make important decisions for the city if she were elected to the Farmington Hills city council.
