As one of the most sacred and widely observed Jewish holidays, Passover is a weeklong celebration of the Israelites' freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt.
Passover, called Pesach in Hebrew, starts at sunset of the 15th day of Nissan, the first month in the Hebrew calendar. The observance runs from March 30 through April 7.
