PwC asked 22,000 people in 27 territories about their shopping and consuming activities for its seventh annual consumer insights survey. The results suggest that for consumer products companies and retailers seeking success, the most important factor to watch is the reshaping of consumer habits by new technologies and online social interaction. Black Friday and grocery coupons are out; they will be replaced by a combination of smartphone ordering, voice technology, and rapid paths to purchase that become second nature to customers.
