President requested text messages related to investigation from former top FBI officials, including James Comey, declassified

Donald Trump has ordered the release of classified documents as part of his effort to discredit the inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election and potential links with his campaign team.

In a highly unusual move, the White House announced on Monday afternoon that the president had directed the justice department and Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, to publish material that was being kept secret.
