Despite the steepest drop of the top ten, Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has crossed the $1 billion worldwide mark after three weeks of release with $1.040 billion through December 31st.

That makes it the third highest global release of 2017 and twenty-fourth of all time. As of this weekend, the film also passed “Beauty and the Beast” to become the top release of 2017 in North America with $517.1 million through Sunday. The film is expected to pull in $65.6 million for the four-day weekend, including New Year’s Day.

“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” earned $50.6 million from Friday to Sunday to take its two-week total to $169.8 million and is expected to beat ‘Last Jedi’ for the four-day holiday weekend. “Pitch Perfect 3” came in third with a further $17.8 million this weekend. In fourth was “The Greatest Showman” which earned $15.3 million for the three-day weekend and is up to $48.8 million after two weeks. “Ferdinand” was fifth with $11.7 million.

In terms of newcomers, “All the Money in the World” debuted in seventh place with $5.5 million and grossed $12.6 million, “Downsizing” was ninth with $4.6 million and a total of $17 million, “Father Figures” was tenth with $3.7 million and a total of $12.7 million.

In limited release, both “Phantom Thread” and “The Post” were smash hits with $55,000 and $60,000 per screen averages respectively. “Happy End,” “Hostiles” & “Molly’s Game” all opened soft.
