Archie A. Van Elslander, Michigan's furniture baron and founder of what became the largest independent furniture retailers in the United States, died Monday. He was 87.
Van Elslander, or Mr. Van as he was affectionately known by some, was surrounded by his family when he died from complications linked to lung cancer.
